Dental cleanings and checkups in Woodland Hills
Checkups, cleanings, fillings and crowns for the whole family, in one office.

Care that keeps small problems small
General dentistry is the everyday care that keeps teeth and gums healthy: checkups and cleanings, X-rays, fillings, crowns, and root canals when a tooth needs saving.
Seeing the same dentist year after year means problems are caught early, while they're simpler and less costly to fix. Parents, grandparents and kids can all be seen in one office.
What happens at a dental checkup and cleaning
- 1
A quick catch-up
We ask how your teeth have been feeling and about any changes to your health or medications.
- 2
X-rays when they're due
X-rays show what an exam can't, like decay between teeth or under old fillings. How often you need them depends on your teeth.
- 3
Professional cleaning
Plaque and hardened tartar are cleared from the places brushing and flossing miss, then your teeth are polished.
- 4
Exam with Dr. Ahdout
Dr. Ahdout checks each tooth, your gums and your bite, and looks over your X-rays with you.
- 5
A clear plan
If anything needs treatment, we explain what we found, your options and the cost, then book your next checkup.
Why regular checkups matter
Most dental problems don't hurt at first. Regular visits catch them while they're small and easy to fix.
- A cavity found early can usually be fixed with a simple filling.
- Early gum disease can often be reversed with a professional cleaning and better care at home.
- Cracks and worn fillings can be repaired before the tooth breaks.
- A cleaning removes hardened tartar that brushing can't.

Common dental problems and how they're treated
A quick guide. Dr. Ahdout will recommend what's right for you after an exam.

A family dentist looks after patients of every age with checkups, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, crowns and root canals, so the whole family can be seen in one office.
A family dentist and a general dentist provide the same everyday care. "Family dentist" simply means the office sees patients of all ages, from children to grandparents.
Many people do well with a dental checkup and cleaning every six months. Some need them more often, for example with gum disease, and Dr. Ahdout will recommend the right interval for you.
The American Dental Association recommends a child's first dental visit within six months of their first tooth, and by their first birthday. Call us to book your child's first visit.
Yes. Dental X-rays use a very low dose of radiation, and they're only taken when needed to see problems an exam can't, like decay between teeth, as the ADA explains.
Most dental insurance plans cover routine checkups and cleanings, often at little or no cost to you. We'll check your plan before your visit.
A regular dental cleaning removes plaque and tartar from your teeth and just under the gumline. A deep cleaning, also called scaling and root planing, reaches further below the gums to treat gum disease, and the area is usually numbed first. After your exam, Dr. Ahdout will tell you which one you need. The ADA explains gum disease in more detail.
Between dental cleanings, brush twice a day for two minutes with a fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth once a day, and limit sugary drinks and snacks. That's the daily routine the ADA recommends.
The cost of a dental checkup and cleaning depends on your insurance and whether you need X-rays. Call us and we'll give you a clear price before your visit.
