The Shoup Park Summit is located in Woodland Hills, California. It is just a few miles from the Woodland Hills Medical Center, and near the Woodland Hills Recreation Center. This park is great for families and provides ample shade during the summer. Several play structures and grass areas are also available. There are restrooms and a small outhouse at the trailhead.

In addition to the open space, there are lighted tennis courts, two baseball diamonds, and half a mile of trails. These are excellent for beginner and advanced players alike. Also, this park has two bathrooms and bear proof food lockers.

In 2016, the Shoup Bay Trail received much needed attention. Widening was done, and the side of the trail was brushed. It still is narrow, though, and there is some stinging nettle along the trail. During the winter, there is often snow.

The trail starts near the intersection of Skyline Blvd and Crystal Springs Rd. From here, it goes through the cottonwoods and alders, until it comes out to a flat section. If it is dry for a few days, this section can be ankle deep. However, if it rains for a few days, it can become flooded. Luckily, this section is mostly clear in the spring and fall, but the area can still get wet in the summer.

If you’re looking for a challenging hike, this route is a good choice. Many hikers end at the Shoup Bay.
