Canoga Park is a vibrant and historic community nestled in the foothills of the San Fernando Valley. It offers a variety of amenities and is just a short drive from Los Angeles attractions like Northridge Fashion Center, Westfield Topanga, Pierce College and the 101 Fwy.
Locals and visitors enjoy the best of Canoga Park in the form of parks, shops, restaurants and live entertainment. The town is home to a number of enticing small businesses, including the West Valley Playhouse and Henri’s Restaurant. Its thriving art and antique shops are a draw for locals and visitors alike, as is the Follow Your Heart Natural Foods Market and Cafe.
The town is also known for its excellent selection of taco trucks, most notably El Big Burrito. Canoga Park is a popular destination for its numerous festivals and events, including Clyde Porter Arts Day in October and Dia de los Muertos Street Festival in November.
There are a number of parks in the area, but Lanark Park is a great place to have a family picnic or play a game of tennis. It boasts several lighted tennis courts, two baseball fields and a basketball court. In addition, the facility features a swimming pool and an indoor gymnasium.
Other attractions at Lanark Park include a skatepark, the Lanark Boxing Club and fencing classes. This is the first city park in Los Angeles to offer a boxing program, and it has been popular with young athletes since Ray Notaro started it in 1986.
Lanark Park is also home to a new 14,000 square foot street plaza style skatepark. The park was a collaboration between Councilmember Bob Blumenfield and the Department of Recreation and Parks, which helped fund it partially with a Tony Hawk Foundation grant.
The other noteworthy feature of this particular park is its summer night lights, which are a fun way for the kids to enjoy the outdoor space after dark. The display is on every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
The site is a popular spot for family activities and events, including weddings, birthday parties, school dances and fundraisers. The center also hosts a variety of premium sports programs for residents and guests staying in the area for an extended stay, such as baseball, boxing, soccer, tennis, softball and basketball.
