The Canoga-Owensmouth Historical Society is a local organization that strives to preserve the history of Los Angeles County, particularly the area around Owensmouth and Canoga Park. Its collections include books, pamphlets, documents, and artifacts, as well as oral interviews that cover the area’s diverse history.

The museum is located at the former Canoga Park Fire Station and is open to visitors on the second Sunday of each month. Admission is free but donations are accepted.

This historical society’s collection contains photo-graphs, books, pamphlets, documents, and ephemera that deal with the history of the West San Fernando Valley, with an emphasis on the area that was originally known as Owensmouth and is now called Canoga Park. Some of the materials include high school yearbooks from 1916 to the 1950s; publications from the local women’s club; a thesis on the development of the town; clippings and scrapbooks; and ephemera from the chamber of commerce, the Lion’s Club, and other local organizations.

In addition to its permanent displays, the Canoga-Owensmouth Historical Museum also holds social events and hosts speakers and films on topics pertaining to the local history. It is one of the best places to learn about the past in Canoga Park and the surrounding areas, and it is also a great place for children to spend time exploring.

Founded in 1988, the Canoga-Owensmouth historical Society is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to identifying and preserving historic landmarks throughout the San Fernando Valley. Its collection includes books, ephemera, and documents that detail the history of the area’s earliest residents and businesses.

The Canoga-Owensmouth museum is home to several historical exhibits that tell the story of the community’s history, including a display highlighting the contributions made by Rocketdyne in Canoga Park to the Apollo 11 moon landing 50 years ago. Other highlights include a collection of artifacts that depict the community’s agricultural past and a display of old-fashioned tools.

A short distance away from the museum is a garden that reflects the urban and botanical history of the area, featuring artwork that conveys the history of the area in the 1910s. The art features a stone and glass mosaic pattern that depicts a map of the neighborhood, along with small urban centers and native plants that thrived on sandy banks.

Another nearby attraction is the Canoga Park Farmer’s Market, where you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables as well as other produce. It’s a fun place to explore, especially on a rainy day or when you have the chance to sample some local craft beer.

It’s also a good idea to check out the Canoga-Owensmouth library, where you can find a selection of historical material and books. The staff is very friendly and will help you find what you need, as well as provide answers to any questions you might have about the collection.

The Canoga-Owensmouth historical society also has a small but interesting museum that’s only open on the second Sunday of each month. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable about the museum’s contents, and the museum is free to visit.
